This superb Victorian locket is beautifully crafted in antique 15ct rose gold, a subtle shade of reddish gold often seen in antique pieces.
One side is decorated in a beautifully chased and engraved pattern of shamrocks framed in a pie crust border against a foliate background. The other side is set with a flat faceted edge bloodstone cabochon that is nicely spattered in red and it has an applied gold shield cartouche set into the centre. The top of the locket has a versatile wide bore heavy gauge jump ring bale which is diamond cut adding to the decorative appeal.
The locket opens from the side to revel 2 photo compartments with the original picture rings and blue paper liners. It is in beautiful antique condition with light surface wear that you would expect in an antique locket but nothing untoward. The engraving is still beautifully crisp and the hinge is solid with the locket closing tightly with a satisfying snap.
A wonderful Celtic themed Victorian locket and an absolute classic of the era, top notch quality! Chain not included.
