This gorgeous antique silver snake bangle is a stunning example of Victorian Etruscan Revival jewellery!
Crafted in sterling silver the bracelet is beautifully decorated in intricate engravings and applied wirework. We love the 2 coiled snakes adorning the front with their come hither look they are studded in faceted silver beads adding to the dramatic effect. The bracelet is hollow at the front and solid and springy at the back which gives it the flexibility to wrap around the wrist and adjust for a perfect fit.
This innovatively designed wraparound bracelet boasts 2 diamond (lozenge) shaped British Registration marks so we know that this distinctive design was copyrighted and registered on the 9th September in 1882.

MATERIAL: sterling silver
MEASUREMENTS: At rest the bangle has an 8" (20cm) circumference (it measures 9-1/4" (23.5cm) in total length, end to end) and it is adjustable to a reasonable extent so can be squeezed smaller. It measures 3/4" (2cm) wide at the front terminals graduating to a width of 1/2" (1cm) at the back
HALLMARKS: stamped with British registration lozenge marks at the front. There are no marks for metal content and we have acid tested and confirmed this piece is solid sterling silver
WEIGHT: 15.8 grams
DATE: circa 1895, Victorian
CONDITION: in very good condition throughout. The silver is bright and gleaming, commensurate with age there is surface wear to some of the hollow faceted beads studs and some minor dings. Overall, a fine example of the Victorian Etruscan Revival jewellery in all of its glory!
