Smooth as silk and tactile this beautiful vintage English silver gate bracelet is a lovely quality piece and bears London hallmarks for 1978. Complete with a love heart padlock clasp and decorative safety chain it features rows of 7 long and short articulated links and is nice and wide so a real statement piece.
A classic "sweetheart" bracelet steeped in nostalgia and romantic sentiment. "Gate" bracelets are so called because the links are said to resemble horse paddock gates and fences seen dotted around the British countryside. Bracelets with heart padlock clasps have been a perennial favourite since Victorian times, worn by women as a sign of fidelity and faithfulness, the padlock was only ever meant to be opened by her husband or lover!

CONDITION: light wear in keeping with age and the padlock in perfect working order. It has been professionally cleaned and polished so it's ready to wear or give as a gift.
