Not to be confused with French Jet, which is glass, this elegant narrow silver bangle is set with a cabochon of genuine Whitby Jet, a fossilized mineral gemstone millions of years old that is only found in and around the Whitby cliffs, a seaside hamlet in England.
Hallmarked for London 1975 the bangle has a d-profile and opens at the front with a hook clasp. Lovely quality and perfect for wearing as a graceful signature piece or stacking with other distinctive silver bracelets.
If you have never enjoyed genuine Whitby jet jewellery before it is a lovely organic gemstone, deep black and glossy it is lightweight and warm to the touch. If you tap it against your teeth it makes a dull tap as opposed to the sharp ring you get with glass. Our shop is located on the Yorkshire coast, in the heart of the Whitby jet industry and all our jet jewellery is locally sourced.
