A fantastic vintage 1960's London Hackney Cab pendant/large mechanical charm complete with a driver inside. Solidly cast in sterling silver with a gold plating the bottom of the car is hinged and opens to reveal seats and a cabby wearing a peaked cap inside.
This is a fairly rare piece, it is stamped with a makers mark on the roof top which is worn and obscured but we are fairly certain it is a Nuvo piece. NUVO was the trademark used by the British manufacturing jeweller R. Platnauer located in Birmingham's historic 500 year old jewellery quarter. Rare Nuvo charms are highly sought after and very collectible!

MATERIALS: gold plated sterling silver throughout
MEASUREMENTS: pendant 1-1/4" (3cm) tall, 7mm across at the widest point. Chain 18" (45cm) long, 2.5mm wide
WEIGHT: 8.4 grams total
HALLMARKS: pendant hallmark obscured, chain stamped '925' for sterling (we have tested and verified that the charm is sterling).
CONDITION: in very good vintage condition with expected light surface wear and a little tarnish on the inside. For easy opening slightly slide the top of the car to one side so it clears the little nub before lifting it up.
