What an amazing find! This antique Scottish glove button hook pendant is rich in Victorian whimsy and a unique collectors piece. Crafted in both silver and steel the top is fashioned as a beautifully modelled grouse claw replete with curly feathers and rugged scales. The claw clutches a perfectly round orb of glowing rich red carnelian.
This piece has a silver S-shaped collar around the grouse's wrist along with a suspension ring to attach to a chain, these acid test as sterling silver. The hook part is steel and the claw part is cast in a heavy antique white metal (not silver).
This rare novelty glove button hook is full of Scottish charm and would make a unforgettable gift for a collector, once worn on a Victorian lady's chatelaine or guard chain she can be worn as a unique pendant! Please note the chain shown is not included.
