This antique sterling silver pendant drop brooch showcases a unique Scottish agate carved into the shape of an eagle or tiger claw. Scotland is known for its abundance agate which is found in a huge variety of colours and patterns, each type specific to a particular place. Queen Victoria's love affair with Scotland generated high demand for 'Scottish pebble' agate jewellery and it still remains that way today!
The claw suspends from a British hallmarked silver bar brooch top that is decorated in applied flowers and it has a silver safety chain which adds to its elegant appearance. An unusual piece of antique Scottish agate jewellery, good for the ladies or the gents! To the Victorians claw jewellery symbolised strength and courage.
