A statement of beauty and femininity these elegant antique 9ct gold earrings date from the Edwardian era and feature slim pendeloque drops of natural red Mediterranean coral. The coral is a luscious deep salmon red with a beautiful shine. The carved drops are set into decorative gold bell caps and they suspend from fine gold chain with small gold beads at the top.
These delicate earrings fasten with screw-backs. First patented around 1895 screw-backs offered a solution to women who preferred not to pierce their ears due to changing attitudes, ear piercing had become deemed vulgar! Luckily, screw-back earrings quickly caught on and by the Art Deco era they had become the new norm!
