This beautiful little antique 9ct gold locket is steeped in Victorian romance and sentiment. It dates to the Victorian Aesthetic era circa 1880 and is hand-engraved on the front with a beautiful Swallow bird and Rose bough design, so much detail in such a small space!
The back left plain apart from the gold marks and the gold is a subtle rosy reddish colour, a gorgeous shade that is characteristic of old gold. The locket opens from the side to reveal 2 stations for photos along with the original photo frames.

MATERIALS: 9ct gold
SIZE: 1-1/4" (3cm) tall measured with the bails. The locket part itself measures 3/4" (2cm) high, 5/8" (1.6cm) wide and 6.25mm deep. The oval 9ct gold jump ring at the top is 4mm diameter.
WEIGHT: 3.1 grams (locket only)
HALLMARKS: stamped, '9ct - Back & Front' (English hallmarked "9ct back and front" lockets are typical of the era, they are essentially 90- 95% solid gold (the inner rims frames tend to be made of a stronger metal).
ERA: Victorian, circa 1880
CONDITION: This locket remains in very good condition, with a little surface wear and faint scratches, as to be expected in an antique locket. It shuts tightly with a solid click. Please see the photos and disregard the dark reflections
