A heavy and imposing all original antique Victorian sterling silver Albert pocket watch chain with an ornate statement sized gold & silver fob. Hallmarked in 1889 and weighing over 72 grams the chain features thick solid silver curb links that are stamped throughout in the British lion passant for sterling - always a sign of a quality chain. The chain is a good length and can be wrapped around the wrist twice to wear as a bracelet.
The silver fob is a large size and very decorative fashioned in a shield shape with pierced openwork and ornate engraving. It has a gold shield cartouche on each side, both cartouches are vacant so you could choose to have one or both of them engraved in a monogram for a personal touch.
A fabulous antique silver Albert chain and a collectors dream, this is an essential bit of Victorian kit!

MATERIALS: sterling silver, 9ct gold
WEIGHT: 72.3 grams
MEASUREMENTS: measures 12"/30.5cm from the end of the dog-clip to the T-bar (drape length). The drop (from the T-bar to the bottom of the fob) measures 4-1/4"/11cm. The links are 2.7mm thick and graduate from 12x10mm to 10x8mm. T-bar 1-1/2" (4cm) long. Fixed dog-clip (does not swivel) 23x8mm. Fob 2"/5cm tall, 1-1/4" (3cm) wide
HALLMARKS: watch chain stamped 'lion passant' for sterling throughout the links. T-bar stamped 'lion passant, date letter 'P' for 1889 and 'EW' makers mark. Clip stamped 'lion passant', date letter 'P' and 'EW' makers mark. The fob is stamped 'lion passant', 'anchor' for Birmingham, date letter 'x' for 1897 and 'CES' makers mark (the fob is a little later than the chain).
