An exquisite vintage sterling silver cannetille choker necklace that is worn close fitted to the neck. An incredible amount of work has gone into making this necklace and all by hand using jewellery making techniques that have been used for centuries.
Fashioned as a broad ribbon with a central 'bib' section it features rows upon rows of flower rosette motifs joined together in chainmaille style construction. Each flower is decorated with a little rosette in the centre and a continuous row of silver beads dangle enticingly from the base of the necklace. It fastens with a unobtrusive tube and pin clasp so the continuity of the design is unbroken. With every single link soldered closed this is a high quality necklace with fabulous sparkle and an incredible drape when worn.
Although it is difficult to date or pin down the origin of traditional cannetille work like this that isn't factory mass produced we estimate the necklaces dates to the 1970s or earlier and that it might originate from India. A stunning necklace, heirloom worthy, amazing for the wedding bride!
