This darling little vintage sterling silver pendant is set with a beautiful cabochon of Whitby Jet. If you are unfamiliar with Whitby jet it is a black organic gemstone only found in and around the cliffs at Whitby, a seaside hamlet in England. It is a deep glossy black, extremely lightweight and warm to the touch.
This pendant is feminine and delicate with the jet set in an open backed bezel that is decorated in silver rope trim framed by a silver looped border and it has a split V-shaped bale at the top. The pendant suspends from a sterling silver fine cable chain with flat cut links that add a lovely sparkle to the piece.
The pendant measures 1"/2.2cm tall, 1/2"/1.5cm wide and the chain is 17-1/2"/44.5cm long. The chain is stamped '925', the pendant isn't marked, we have tested and verified sterling throughout. The necklace weighs 2.5 grams in total. In excellent condition with minimal wear and no damage to the jet.
