Showcasing exceptionally skilled workmanship this elegant antique Egyptian Revival niello silver filigree bracelet hails from the 1920s and is a true Art Deco period piece.
A quality piece and finely wrought it features 6 curved sections of beautiful filigree work. Each section is set in a raised oval panel that is decorated in black niello work depicting various Egyptian scenes, each scene is stamped with hallmarks on the back. Niello is an ancient decorative enamelling technique that has been used by many cultures for centuries.
The bracelet closes with a hidden push button clasp so the design is uninterrupted and it is in very, very good condition just showing light surface scratches in keeping with age and wear. The filigree is intact with no areas of damage noted and the clasp is in perfect working order.
A fabulous period bracelet, Egyptian revival jewellery hailing from the 1920's and 30's is always a great find. British archaeologist Howard Carter had discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1923, demand for Egyptian themed jewellery boomed and became madly fashionable!
