Circa 1820, a really stunning late Georgian brooch of good proportions. Tested as 15ct gold which gives this beautiful brooch a rich, rosy glow the oval cut citrine is a large size weighing almost 25.00 carats and a lovely deep honey colour. It is set in a pleated bezel and framed in a halo of plump round creamy pearls. To the reverse the back is semi-enclosed with a open porthole that adds light and creates even more depth to the superb stone. A fine quality piece the brooch is fitted with a curved pin and looped hook closure along with a safety chain for added security.
The brooch is in very good antique condition showing just light surface wear. Note any dark spots are reflections. The citrine has a very fine hairline internal crack which can only really be seen under close magnification. To the naked eye it looks like a natural inclusion and doesn't detract at all from this piece but we have priced with this blemish in mind.
A fine example of Georgian craftsmanship, a stunning "Cairngorm" brooch, the beloved gemstone of Scotland!
