An exquisite antique 18ct gold, sapphire and pearl mourning ring engraved for 1851.
Incredibly decorative in keeping with the Georgian style that was still evident in this early Victorian period the ring features a split shank at the shoulders accented with carved gold orange blossoms and an inky blue black enamel inlay.
A glass fronted panel at the front holds dark blonde braided hair surrounded by a border of rose cut dark blue sapphires. Small natural pearls with a bluey iridescence frame the sapphires, the pearls hinting at tears shed for the deceased.
The ring is engraved inside “E.M.W.P” and "OBt. 29th April 1851" and we wonder who this may have been because they were clearly loved.
