This beautiful floral engraved vintage sterling silver bangle bears full Chester hallmarks for 1946. It is a real treat to see Chester silver, the assay office closed in 1962 and these historic hallmarks are desirable and collectible.
Just two decades away from being a true 100 year old antique this dainty bangle has a elegant curved outline and is engraved in a beautiful floral and scroll design. It has a lovely vacant cartouche in the centre that you could chose to have engraved with a monogram for a personal touch.
The bracelet has 4 keyhole shaped eyelets at the back and a silver peg that slots in the holes to hold it in position. It is adjustable from 6-1/2" to 7" using the middle 2 eyelets, the other 2 eyelets are purely aesthetic although they are fully functioning. A sliding collar keeps the end flat when it is fastened.
A very pretty and feminine silver bangle that you will adore and want to wear daily!
MATERIALS: sterling silver throughout
MEASUREMENTS: 1" (2.5cm) wide at the front graduating to 3/8" (1cm) at the back, inner circumference adjustable from 6-1/2" to 7" (21cm).
HALLMARKS: stamped 'lion passant' for sterling, 'sword & wheatsheaves' for Chester, date letter a Gothic 'd' for 1946 and makers mark 'JS' in a shield for Joseph Smith & Sons.
WEIGHT: 11.4 grams.
DATE: 1940s, late Art Deco
CONDITION: in very, very good condition, with some light wear and faint surface scratches as to be expected in a piece this age.
