A wonderful antique Edwardian rolled gold double-sided picture pendant featuring an early hand-colourised portrait of a beautiful young lady beneath glass on one side, with a black grosgrain fabric liner to the reverse. The rolled gold frame is richly decorated with bead and scroll motifs, while the thick glass covers are gently domed, adding depth and charm to the piece.
This lovely antique pendant can be enjoyed exactly as found, or the contents may be replaced with your own photographs, keepsakes, locks of hair, or tiny gemstones. It opens by unscrewing the bail at the top, allowing access to the interior. We have added a new Italian gold vermeil (gold-plated sterling silver) belcher chain so it is ready to wear immediately.
Rolled gold (also known as gold filled) is created by mechanically bonding a layer of gold to a base metal core. Significantly thicker and more durable than standard gold plating, the gold layer represents at least 1/20 of the item's total metal weight, producing a rich golden colour that retains its lustre exceptionally well.

CONDITION: Very good antique condition with light age-related wear. The original photograph remains beautifully preserved, the glass panels are free from significant damage, and no notable flaws were observed.
