This beautiful antique Georgian Scottish banded agate small pocket/desk wax seal features a Roman intaglio depicting a grazing horse.
A quality piece and elegantly proportioned, the handle is carved out of striking semi-translucent brown agate that has dramatic banded lines running throughout. The engraved intaglio is carnelian mounted in sterling silver and it is tiny, smaller than my little finger nail! An all round exquisite example of Georgian workmanship and a fine collectors piece!
This highly decorative Georgian accessory is as beautiful as it is fully functional, it will make a unique gift for a writer or equestrian friend!

HALLMARKS: not marked for metal content, there are some hand-etched numbers on the silver collar that are likely workshop markings
CONDITION: in excellent antique condition with the intaglio is free of any damage turning out a well defined impression. Apart from the odd tiny surface nibble to the agate the handle is also in excellent condition
