A gorgeous antique Victorian British portrait miniature of an beautiful baby boy. Hand painted in watercolour in pastel hues he has a mass of blonde curls and is wearing a blue and white dress or romper suit. Set behind glass the painting is pegged into a gilt (gold gilded silver) pendant frame that has a blue velvet covered cardboard backing and it suspends from a gold gilt cable chain of the same period that has a torpedo clasp.
A gorgeous sentimental Victorian piece, portrait miniatures were used as portable and wearable reminders of loved ones and they offer us a fascinating glimpse into the past!
